I often use Google to log in now. I didn't use to but it's so much easier on phones and online. But yeah, probably not the best strategy.

I've recently signed up for Proton mail and I use their password tool mostly. I don't use their email system although it should be good and safe. Mostly, I use emails from my own domains and only I have access to those.
I have a Proton account, and I use their VPN sometimes.
Fastmail have a lot of domains that you can add a user to for the emails, which is one system. They also have what they call masked domains, which you can turn on or off at will. These don't actually exist, but get redirected to an inbox of your choosing.
It's a great way to see who is sharing your email address.
