You have probably heard about PBNs.
The usual way to build a PBN, Private Blog Network, is to buy expired domains and repurpose them within the niche you want to target.
This requires you, or an outsourcer, to write many articles to post on them with links to your main money site.
While this works extremely well if done properly, it is also time-consuming and expensive.
The main reason for buying expired domains is to get a boost from their aged status.
But that is only one ranking factor and can be overcome relatively easily.
I advocate using sites on public blogging platforms for some of your backlink sites because you can take advantage of their existing traffic.
If you use some of those to link to a blog that you control on a sub-domain of one of your domains, you boost their ranking score, making their link to your main site more valuable.
Sub-domains on your existing domains cost you nothing and can have some or all of your desired keywords in the name.
For example:- on xyz.com, you can have weightloss.xyz.com.
While this is also not a significant ranking factor, it does seem to counterbalance the loss of the aged domain ranking factor.
So, link your Public Domain sites to your sub-domain sites that link to your main site to gain ranking points and targeted traffic.

Brent.
P.S. If you have checked out the concept of a product wall, I would be interested in some feedback on what you think and how you would take advantage of this.
If you haven't done so yet, here is the link again.

Hi Brent, Another useful article. Thank you.
How can I go about finding relevant expired domains?
