Why you should be more like Yoda than Luke.
You have undoubtedly heard or read that story emails sell better than others.
You would also know that the most common story type you'll get on sales pages is "The Hero's Journey", where someone goes from clueless and troubled to a hero with a solution.
Those are good sales pages, and they work, but to tell that story, they must be long.
Even the videos are so long they're almost tedious.
They don't have to be like that, and your emails cannot be like that.
When your emails are too long, people stop reading them unless you're a very skilled writer, which I'm not.
So, what's the difference between writing like Yoda or Luke?
Luke is the hero, and the story is focused on him and his journey from farm boy to warrior.
On the other hand, Yoda is the guru who has the solution to the problems that Luke faces.
That's the point of view that you should be taking when writing to your subscribers.
They have the problem, you have the solution, they are the hero, not you.
Of course, if they happen to reward you with a nice bag of gold or a working lightsabre...
...I'd take the lightsabre.
Does that make sense?
Respond if you need further clarification or think I'm full of it.
