Unexpected challenges.
There were some unexpected challenges with setting up what I talked about in the last email.
The last little viral hack proved a little more difficult than I expected.
If you’re following along and decided to put that into action, it’s really easy.
But, if you’re like me and always want to push the boundaries a little, there was an unexpected challenge.
My new channel currently has two videos, and I decided to try to make them both go viral.
Managing that hack for one video is relatively simple.
Step one: Set up a new email address somewhere.
Step two: Turn on the Out-of-Office feature.
Step three: Write an Out-of-Office email with the link to the bonus.
See? Simple.
But when you try to do this for two videos and want to send a different bonus for each video, it doesn’t work unless you have a new email address for each video.
What happens when you want to do this for five or ten videos?
That could get very unwieldy very fast.
So, what to do?
I did come up with an answer that I have implemented.
It involved creating a page for each video to which the description links.
That page gives instructions to the visitor on what to do to get a bonus.
One of the instructions is to send an email with a set subject line.
Then, I used Make to grab the email, filter for the subject line, and email a link to the appropriate bonus.
When I want to add another video or other content to this group, I need to clone the page, change two things, and add another branch into the Make scenario.
About 5 minutes work.
That’s actually less time than it would take to set up a new email address with another out-of-office email.
If you would like to do something similar, email me and ask.
I can give you a clone of everything I’ve done.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. What did I use for the bonuses?
You guessed it, a cheat sheet.
One that I made with this: https://go.wm-tips.com/sheets.
