The single word you should not use because it's racist, sexist, and ageist.
I'll tell you the word in a moment, but first, I'll explain why everybody is racist, even if they don't mean to be.
Especially if they don't want to be.
It's a throwback to the earliest times of developing civilisation.
People only fully feel comfortable with the same type of people they've grown up with.
That's where they feel safe and secure.
Understandable, really.
We always gravitate to the familiar, and those we grow up with are familiar.
Pre-civilisation humans wandered about in tribes.
Most of those tribes consisted of fewer than 150 people, and everybody in the tribe knew everybody else.
Anyone outside the tribe was a threat and must be driven off or killed.
This is the typical lose : lose situation when resources are limited.
If there is barely enough for us, we cannot share with another.
Civilisation began with groups growing bigger by joining forces against other intruders and starting farming, usually animal husbandry initially, to be able to feed all those people.
Even so, the groups that amalgamated were similar in most of their characteristics and attitudes.
Humans have always been wary of unknown groups of people and often attribute behaviours to them that probably weren't true but kept the kids in line.
We also regularly went to war against those strangers to either drive them away or expand our territories.
You might notice that the same behaviours are playing out today in multiple countries.
Wars are the ultimate expression of racism.
Mostly, citizens of a country don't go to war against each other, but they do argue and fight over pointless things.
OK, so we are all racist but cannot help it because it's embedded in our genetic material.
I understand that most of us do our best to hide, suppress, and overcome our racist tendencies.
Except when we see a video that calls out a person ranting or raving about another person.
Then we laugh at them and call them a Karen, except that is a racist, sexist and ageist word we should not use.
Yep, that's the word.
It's as racist as <insert your racist term here>.
Regards,
Brent.
