All of us, including me, have a terrible, easily fixed habit, but one that prevents us from working at our best.
This article, https://trckapp.com/smartphone, is based on a study that showed your smartphone is reducing your ability to think.
This means that when you want to do anything creative, you should (must?) leave your phone in another room.
It's not enough to turn it off because it still distracts you.
Apparently, it's not the only thing that will distract you.
A real elephant in your room just might distract you a bit.
If you are dieting, a chocolate cake or bar will distract you.
For some, a supermodel would distract you, etc.
I'm sure you are smart enough to develop other scenarios where something in the room would distract you.
But you probably would never have thought of the smartphone as an issue.
To be honest, it's not the phone that distracts me.
It's writing on the computer because I find that I 'need' to check those emails or those stats.
Mostly I can get through writing these emails without checking, but it is hard sometimes.
Reply to this email and tell me what distracts you from doing your best work.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. The members area of my Substack account is filling up with some great content that you can get access to for a mere $7 a month, but only until the end of the month.
Remember that I'm in Australia, so the end of the month arrives here up to a day earlier than it does for you, and the price is going up at the end of the month here.
Be warned.
The way subscriptions work in Substack is that when I put the price up, the new price only applies to new subscribers, not existing subscribers.
If you want the best possible deal, it's before the end of the month.
Go here, subscribe for free, explore what is available, and upgrade if it suits you.
