Resetting passwords can be a PITA.
I tried to log into my Bit.ly account today.
I got a message: "This account has been suspended due to inactivity."
Now there's a challenge.
Which email address did I use to set up this account initially?
Looking in LastPass, my password manager, I found three accounts for Bit.ly.
I have to reset the password to access my account, and there is no email address listed for two of those accounts.
Try the only one with a current email address and see what happens.
WooHoo, access.
And the link I wanted to check is still valid.
This time, it worked out OK, but there have been moments where I had to contact support because the contact email address didn't exist any more.
Note to Self (and any readers): before closing an email address, update the details on all your accounts.
By the way, the last time I accessed my Bit.ly accounts was in 2021.
I can't blame them for suspending them.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. A viable alternative to using Bit.ly to shorten long URLs is LeadsLeap.
Their link tracking tool also shortens your URLs for you.
In addition to that, you also get a different perspective on your traffic.
