The problem with writing when the muse strikes.
Is that the less you write, the less the muse strikes.
Some writers like to have their environment 'just so' before they write or can write.
When you restrict yourself like that, it gets harder and harder to write.
I write these emails almost daily because I know I have to get one written and published by the same time every day regardless of whether I feel like it or not.
It doesn't matter if I have an idea or not.
I still have to write the email because that's what I promised myself.
When I was studying for my year 12 exams, I used to play an album by the Rolling Stones at a volume level that would drown out most of the noises in the rest of the house.
I only had one album, so I knew all the songs and didn't have to listen to them, but I could block out the Stones and concentrate on my studies by drowning out the other noises.
The main song I remember from that album was "Paint it Black".
That's not the important bit though.
I learned calculus, trigonometry and algebra while not listening to the Rolling Stones.
Not only that but I passed the exams at the end of the year.
The point of this story is that if I can learn algebra while playing rock music, you can write anything in any environment.
All you need to do is learn how to block out the background noise and then let your mind do its stuff.

Brent.
P.S. Listening to some great music while you make your backlinks is an excellent way to ease the tedious task of doing what needs to be done.
Having a tool that makes the task simpler is also a great idea.
