Not a three line email about communication.
The last email was an experiment.
You might like to try experimenting too.
I've just signed up for an email list that will get me a single paragraph email every day.
It should be interesting.
This email is about communication.
That is what I'm trying to do here, and you are probably attempting on your websites and emails.
George Bernard Shaw said that the single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place.
I read this statement somewhere, 'I know you think you understand what I said, but I don't think you realise that I didn't say what I meant'.
That statement has proven to be accurate on many levels.
Often we are reluctant to say exactly what we want to say because we don't want to hurt the listener's feelings.
Being called bluntly honest isn't always a compliment.
When it comes to marketing, rather than personal relationships, we can be more bluntly honest.
You'll still hurt people's feelings, but you'll never get snowflakes on your list or buying from you anyway.
In some ways, your marketing and emails should drive the wrong customers away as you attract the ones you want.
Another quote whose origin has been forgotten is something like 'either be hot or cold because if you are lukewarm, I will spit you from my mouth'.
Be bold.
Take a stand and defend it.
Be consistent.
You cannot flip-flop around your beliefs.
People of a like mind will flock to you.
People who have different opinions will avoid you.
You cannot please everybody, so don't try.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. There you go, more than three lines.
