Movement isn't progress.
A friend told me about one of his work colleagues who always looked busy.
He was all over the mill with a clipboard and apparently taking notes.
It took two years before management discovered that he didn't have a job to do at all and that he did nothing all day.
Somehow he had been overlooked when his direct report died, and his department was cancelled without payroll being notified.
When he realised he didn't have a boss or work to do but was still being paid, he set out to retain his salary by inventing a role for himself.
Looking busy is no substitute for working.
I fall into this trap more often than I would like to admit.
I can sit in front of my computer all day and achieve nothing except an email.
The YouTube rabbit hole is my weakness because I have many interests and like to keep up with new developments.
There is one saving grace though.
Many of my emails are inspired by YouTube videos.
I should be making them rather than watching them.
Jim Rohn said once that we don't get paid for our time.
We get paid for the value we put into that time.
If you want to earn more, you need to become more valuable.
That value can come from learning more about your niche and becoming an expert.
It could come from helping more people reach their goals via products or information.
People will pay you for saving them time or money.
They'll pay you for helping them short-cut the learning curve.
And they'll pay you for providing a service.
It's the Internet.
There are more ways you make money now than there have ever been.
There are more ways to get customers than there have ever been.
All you have to do is get started.
