Sometimes it's hard to not laugh at someone, but you just can't.
I used to be an Office Equipment tech.
On one occasion, in the early days of the fax machine, one of our clients rang to complain that the fax wasn't working.
We sent him one, which arrived OK, so I was sent to check it out.
I sent one back to the office, and it went fine.
Now it gets tricky. I know it works, so I want to know why the customer thinks it doesn't.
I asked him to demonstrate the problem.
He loaded a page, punched in the number and pressed send.
The page fed through and dropped into the tray.
"See", he said, "it didn't go. It's still here."
Without laughing, I explained that facsimile meant that it sends an image of the page to the recipient, not the page.
Which is a good thing because you get to keep the original and can stamp it to know when it was sent, as proof.
His staff struggled to keep a straight face as well, but he was a much happier man and only slightly embarrassed.
Of course, when I got back to the office and told the story, we all had tears running down our faces.
It never pays to belittle or deliberately embarrass another person.
They will hate you for it and find some way to get revenge.
In business, that usually means you lose a customer and get bad-mouthed around town.
Online it can cause even greater problems, and some people can take their revenge to significant heights.
It pays to be nice.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. I was reminded the other day of the importance of tracking all your links.
You probably have noticed that I rarely post a raw link in my emails.
That's because I need to know which emails and which products are interesting to you.
When I know what you like, I can provide more of that, and there's no point in writing emails that you don't open and read.
That just wastes my time and yours.
The two main tracking tools I use are ClickMagick, https://clickmagick.com/go/Burtm10, and the tracking tool in LeadsLeap, https://go.wm-tips.com/llhome.
Both are good, with ClickMagick being the much better one.
The difference is that LeadsLeap is free and is pretty good for starters.
It is crucially important to track and control all your links.
When Vidnami shut down, all I had to do was change the links in ClickMagick, the copy didn't quite match the link, but most people overlook that anyway.
