How to not get traffic.
Since every man and his dog wants to tell you, or sell you, how to get traffic, I thought it might be useful for you to understand how not to get traffic.
The first and best way to avoid getting any traffic is to not build a website or landing page anywhere except your desktop.
I can 100% guarantee that if you follow this first step to perfection, you will not get any traffic except for yourself and perhaps a few close friends when they visit you.
If you do happen to build some sort of web presence, the next best way to avoid getting any traffic is to not tell anyone about it.
That means no links of any kind to that page.
No paid ads, nothing in an email to anyone you might know with an email address.
Someone might still find it by accidentally typing in the URL, but that is unlikely.
I know this works because I did it myself once.
Three months with no traffic was a humbling experience.
Anything else you do is likely to result in some traffic.
Even building a page on a platform that requires a login to get to the page can still result in some traffic.
No matter how bad anything you build is, there will still be people who find you and visit your content.
The better quality and volume of content will result in people who visit and come back.
Anything we do and repeat results in us getting better and better.
But you can't get better if you don't start.
Make videos, podcasts, blog posts, tweet, whatever you choose, but keep doing it.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. If you are one of those people who sometimes struggle to think of something to write about, there is a simple tool that will help.
https://go.wm-tips.com/riffer.
This is a WordPress plugin that you link to RSS feeds.
Every WordPress site has one, as do many other sites.
An RSS feed gives you a synopsis of their latest posts.
The tool behind the link helps you use the post for content by riffing on it.
Riffing in this context is similar to curation, except that riffing is using the content of the RSS feed as a trigger for your post.
Never run out of ideas again.
