Focussing on the wrong things will stop you succeeding.
In sports or business, you must focus on the fundamentals until they are silky smooth and automatic.
All of us amateurs start by putting out focus on the wrong things.
In golf, we focus on driving the ball as far as possible instead of driving it down the middle of the fairway.
In sports where scoring goals is necessary, we focus on shooting hoops or striking the ball into the goal instead of maintaining control when dribbling and evading the opponents.
In business, we focus on making six figures a year instead of the first hundred or thousand dollars.
It's essential to direct your focus closer to where you are than where you want to be.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't have a big goal you're shooting for.
It only means that it shouldn't be your primary focus.
Your primary focus should be on the first step, not the staircase.
Once you are on the first step, you can focus on the next step, and so on.
