I bet you've never made this mistake.
Recently I discovered that I had made a beauty of a mistake.
I signed up for a service with an email address that I didn't own.
No, it wasn't a throw-away email addy.
No, it wasn't deliberate to help someone get a lot of spam.
It was a typo.
No biggie, I thought, I'll just set that email address up in my service, that'll work.
Nope, someone else already has that email address on that service, so I can't get it.
OK, talk to the service and get the emails changed.
Nope, they won't do that, which I expected, actually.
Try the email service to see if they can contact the owner on my behalf because I had had no luck getting a response to an email I sent.
Nope, they won't do that.
The best I could expect from them is if the owner allowed their account to lapse.
Bloody hell, things were looking bleak.
So I tried a neat little trick to get my email opened to put my case for help.
And it worked.
Now we have begun a dialogue.
It may not result in the action I need to be taken, but it is going to be closer than where I was two days ago.
The trick?
The subject line was their name like this Brent...
That's it.
At least I now have a chance to recover my account.
Regards,
Brent.
P.S. You would remember that I was a big fan of Vidnami for making videos.
When they were closed down by GoDaddy, the hunt was on for a replacement.
I tried a bunch of them and finally settled on Pictory because it has more features than Vidnami, plus some unique tools built in.
They have something super special running at the moment, a 50% discount on their premium pricing.
If you think you might be making videos in 2022, you will need a tool like this because it's currently the best I have found.
