Comparing yourself against others is dumb.
We all do it.
"I wish I was rich like them".
"I wish I had a car like that".
"I wish I had a family like that".
We look at others' success and compare it with ours.
We always look at people who appear to be doing better than we are.
No one compares themselves to homeless people and says, "Boy, I'm doing much better than they are."
One of the secrets to a happy, fulfilled life is to only compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not someone else.
You have no idea what is behind that facade of success.
That person with the fancy car may be so behind on the car payments that they are about to have it repossessed.
Or they may be so depressed that they are contemplating wrapping it around a bridge stanchion.
Perhaps they are so fed up with their lives that they are about to disappear.
That person with the fancy suit and the appearance of significant wealth may be losing their family because they work 80 hours a week and their business is failing.
Many people live lives of quiet desperation, not all of them because they're broke.
The way to have the life and lifestyle you want is with the incremental improvement of yourself.
The way to do that is by establishing the positive habits that will get you there.
