If you can't stay employed, you can't fund your retirement, and you'll be on welfare for the next 30 years.
Will that impact your quality of life much?
I know that we would not be travelling anywhere without our retirement funding.
We have no debts other than the transient credit card debts, so we can use our income for any bills or purchases we choose.
We do not have to decide between paying the utility bills or buying food as some do.
If either of us had been unemployed for a few years before retirement or we didn't own our home, things would have been very different.
With the advances in AI and robotics, many jobs will become automated.
As that happens, more people will become redundant and unemployed.
The government will not be able to increase welfare payments no matter how much they may want to because they won't have the money to do so.
The only sensible thing to do is the same as I'm doing.
