10,057.0 km on a bicycle.
That's my total, since 2021, after today's ride.
By the end of this year, I'll have ridden the equivalent of circumnavigating Australia.
I would have completed the distance sooner if I hadn't gone on holiday several times during that period.
Anyway, the point of that achievement is that I didn't set out to ride 10k.
I set out to ride three days a week.
A micro-goal that I knew I could do, and I've consistently done that.
Achieving micro-goals is easy, and anyone can do that.
It helps if the goal is enjoyable, but it's not essential as long as you know why you're doing what you set out to do.
The why has to be something that motivates you, not so much the goal.
My why was to get fitter and lose weight.
When I first started logging the rides, I was riding about 4 km at a 16 kph average speed.
Now I'm riding 40 km at an average speed of 21 kph.
The more you persist in doing your activity micro-goals, the better you get.
